The Haras d’Etreham announces 2024 stud fees for jumps sires including new recruit PRETTY TIGER
The Haras d’Etreham is pleased to announce fees for the 2024 season for their six jumps stallions, Goliath du Berlais, Latrobe, Paradiso, Masked Marvel, Saint des Saints and the season’s new recruit, Pretty Tiger.
The best son of Sea The Moon at stud, Pretty Tiger has joined the Haras de la Tuilerie for his new career as a stallion. An impressive physical specimen measuring 16.1½hh, he represents an excellent opportunity for breeders to access a superb German bloodline.
Winner of three consecutive races to start his three-year-old campaign, then runner-up in the Gr.3 Prix Noailles, Pretty Tiger won the Gr.2 Prix Eugene Adam in July of the same season, beating notably the future Gr.1 scorer Adhamo. Tough and consistent, he finished a solid second in the Gr.2 Prix Guillaume d’Ornano at Deauville a month later.
Raced exclusively in Stakes company at four years old, Pretty Tiger demonstrated his talent and consistency by always finishing in the first three. He lifted the Listed Grand Prix de la Riviera Cote d’Azur on his seasonal debut, then the Gr.3 Prix Exbury ahead of Hurricane Dream and Skalleti. His only defeats came when second to Sealiway in the Gr.1 Prix Ganay, completing the fastest final furlong, and third in the Gr.1 Prix d’Ispahan.
He completed his remarkable career of 17 races, from 2 to 5 years old, during which he beat six Gr.1 winners, for a total of six victories including four at Black Type level, and six places of which four were in Group company. This talented racehorse deserves his place alongside our jumps sires and he will be available at a fee of 4,000€ for this first season.
2024 is an important year for Goliath du Berlais, whose first crop will be three years old. The leading first-season sire at the sales with his foals and then his yearlings, this best son of Saint des Saints will be represented by 107 individuals born in 2021. Some of these are already declared in training with the likes of Guillaume Macaire & Hector de Lageneste, Mickael Seror, Gabriel Leenders, François Nicolle, Marcel Rolland, Emmanuel Clayeux, etc, and this is a promising sign for the stud career of this exceptional horse for whom interest from breeders has never diminished. The winner of the Gr.1 Prix Ferdinand Dufaure, unbeaten at Auteuil as a four-year-old, will continue to be proposed at 7,500€ for the forthcoming season.
Latrobe, the only Gr.1 winning stallion son of Camelot, and grandson of Montjeu, has received great support from breeders during his first three seasons.
Joseph O’Brien’s former charge had a magnificent racing career from two to five years old, earning over one million Euros in 18 races, 12 places and three wins, notably featuring the Gr.1 Irish Derby. Breeders have been pleased with his progeny, which are elegant and well-made individuals with plenty of bone and strength. Latrobe, whose first generation will be two years old in 2024, remains at the unchanged fee of 4,000€.
Proven sire Masked Marvel, sire of Gr.1 winners including Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris hero SELJEM, continues to rise in the ranks of renowned stallions in France. His offspring are highly sought-after and have sold for over 20 their conception fee. With more black type performers to his name, including MASKAYA, runner-up in the Gr.2 Haras d’Etreham Prix Magalen Bryant last weekend, over 40 winners in 2023 and 95 four-year-old representatives and 85 three-year-olds for 2024, the best is yet to come for the son of the great Montjeu, sire of top sires in Europe. He will continue to be available for 12,500€.
Paradiso, the first and only son of Kapgarde at stud, will see his first foals born in 2024. Unbeaten during the spring of his three-year-old season, including victory in the Gr.3 Prix Aguado ahead of the future runner-up in the Gr.1 Prix Ferdinand Dufaure, Paradiso, who was renowned for his remarkable race finishes, has been very well received at stud. He covered 94 mares in 2023 including 54 winners and 47 sisters of 78 Stakes performers. Among these, a sister to the multiple Gr.1 placed A Raving Beauty, a sister of Gémix, and the Group winners or placed Kotkieglote, Fabuleuse Sween, Meredith, etc.
His fee remains fixed at 5,000€.
The uncontested leader of the jumps discipline with 17 Gr.1 winners to his name, Saint des Saints is responsible for 34 Black Type performances including six Gr.1 wins in 2023 alone as a broodmare sire. Among the top jumps sires for ten years, he will continue to cover mares for a fee of 15,000€ in 2024, from his base at the Haras d’Etreham.
Nicolas de Chambure stated, “We are delighted to welcome Pretty Tiger to join the ranks of our jumps sires. It is essential for us to select profiles capable of enriching the pool of French stallions and continuing the development that breeding is currently undergoing in the jumping discipline. It is also with this in mind that we are continuing to support the fillies and mares jumping programme by sponsoring the Group races reserved for them at Auteuil.
We aim to offer the best to breeders and are very pleased with the stallion profiles we are offering again this year.”
