The phenomenon of Auteuil
The first and only son of the great Kapgarde at stud !
Paradiso demonstrated both precocity and class to win the prestigious Listed Prix Wild Monarch
by eight lengths on his debut in April of his three-year-old campaign.
One month later, the David Cottin-trained colt was successful again, in the Listed Prix Stanley,
beating the future winner of the Gr.2 Prix Congress, Latino des Isles, by six lengths. In the Gr.3 Prix Aguado,
Paradiso proved his superiority once again, winning easily from Impresssive
who went on to take second in the Gr.1 Prix Ferdinand Dufaure.
This impressive spring campaign, in which Paradiso remained unbeaten, earned him the tag as a « phenomenon ».
He was not beaten until his return to action in the autumn, when he finished a good third in the Gr.3 Prix Robert Lejeune.
A stud career is the natural progression for this handsome dark bay who is described by his trainer as, “a Ferrari who jumped faster than the rest and who possessed real class on the flat”, and who “boasts all the physical and mental attributes necessary to become a jumps sire”.
In addition to his performances, Paradiso has a true stallion’s pedigree as a close relative to famous sires such as Nickname and No Risk At All. Like Saint des Saints, one of the leading jumps sires over the past twenty years,
Paradiso hails from a cross between the best of National Hunt breeding
and a maternal line which has shone at the highest level on the flat.
