Haras d’Etreham annouces fees for their 2025 Flat Stallion Roster
With the arrival of two new top-tier sires, Haras d’Etreham is pleased to announce the 2025 stud fees for its six stallions.
Retired to stud at the beginning of 2024, the Gr.1-winning son of the exceptional Frankel, Onesto, hails from one of Juddmonte’s most illustrious families, that of Hasili. Equipped with a remarkable acceleration, he was a standout at the American Breeze Up Sales. An easy winner on his debut at the age of 2, he capped his career at four with a series of thrilling performances against the world's best horses.
Supported by some of the most prominent French and international breeders, Onesto covered 120 mares in 2024. His fee for his second season will be €12,000.
For his fourth season at stud, Victor Ludorum, whose yearlings sold up to €420,000 in 2024 - 28 times his stud fee- will stand at Etreham. This son of Shamardal and from the family of Shamardal has a remarkable race record: undefeated Gr.1 winner at two, Classic winner, and top-level performer at four. Strongly supported by breeders, Victor Ludorum covered 150 mares in his first season at stud and 140 for his second. Amongst his first crop, whose yearlings averaged nearly four times his stud fee, are siblings to Alenquer, Intellogent, Zarakem and Birr Castle. He passes on his strength and powerful physique to his progeny. Victor Ludorum’s fee remains unchanged at €15,000 for 2025.
Hello Youmzain is on track to make history among French sires with his first two-year-olds this year. Currently Europe’s leading first-season sire, he leads by both Group winners and Black Type horses and has a 40% win rate from just over forty runners. Hello Youmzain is one of Europe’s top sires of two-year-olds, with his juvenile crop led by his flagship son, the Gr.3 Prix des Chênes winner and Gr.1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère thirdMisunderstood. His yearlings continued to attract high interest again this year, averaging nearly €80,000 and fetching up to 260,000gns at Tattersalls’ Book I. In Deauville, his strong sales figures confirm market confidence in his progeny, with 87.5% of his yearlings in August sold and nearly 80% in October and a top price of €150,000. His 2025 fee is set at €40,000.
With just 41 runners to date, Persian King has already produced 14 winners and has seen 63% of his runners finish in the first three, thus making him one of the best freshman sires in Europe.
The impressive style in which his progeny wins the races stands out even more than the numbers. Darius Cen was a brilliant 11-length winner of the Prix Filiberto, while Treble Tee took the Aston Martin Novice Stakes by several lengths at Newmarket in very easy fashion.
The feedback from the trainers regarding the quality of his offspring and their high expectations for their 3-year-old campaigns gives us great confidence in Persian King's future. At this year's August Sale, the bidding reached €280,000 for one of his fillies, reflecting the positive feeling towards his progeny.
Fully booked in 2023 with 140 mares covered, Persian King covered just over 100 mares this year and will stand at the same fee of €25,000 for the 2025 season.
Gr.3 Prix Miesque winner Mimos topped a stellar year for City Light, who is in his sophomore season. With three Group fillies this year, he stands out as one of the top sires of two-year-olds in France. His first generation has achieved a remarkable win rate of over 64%, and he leads the 3yo sires lists by number of wins in France, ahead of Siyouni, Zarak, and Wootton Bassett. At the recent ARQANA yearling sale, City Light’s progeny sold for up to €92,000—more than 13 times his stud fee—with an 80% sold rate. Fully booked in 2024 with 150 mares, City Light will stand in 2025 for €10,000.
A major addition to the French stallion roster, Metropolitan, the only Classic winner by Zarak and the best miler of his generation in France will debut at €15,000. Undefeated in two starts at two, Metropolitan won the Gr.1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains, placed third in the Gr.1 St. James’s Palace Stakes, and finished second in the Gr.1 Prix Jacques Le Marois ahead of two-time winner Inspiral. A magnificent horse with irreproachable conformation, he is free of Danzig and Sadler’s Wells bloodlines, making him an excellent outcross for a wide range of mares.
Nicolas de Chambure commented:
"We are approaching this breeding season with great excitement. Hello Youmzain and Persian King’s first two-year-old crops have made remarkable debuts. City Light is again in the spotlight with his second generation, and Victor Ludorum’s yearlings were very impressive and warmly received by buyers. Onesto was strongly supported for his first year, and we are thrilled to welcome a new top-level sire this season… we couldn’t ask for better! We are delighted to stand sires with these high calibre profiles and, as always, are committed to meeting the expectations and needs of breeders, who we wish an excellent upcoming breeding season."
