First mares tested in foal to Metropolitan

The stud career of Metropolitan is well and truly launched, with several mares already confirmed in foal to the young sire.

Among the mares returning positive scans, the only Classic winner by Zarak counts Sand Rose, dam of Royal Dubai who finished third at Gr.2 level at the end of last year after taking second in the Gr.3 Diomed Stakes earlier in the season, as well as Oubliette, sister to two Group performers including Gr.1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches victrix Tie Black.
Also in foal to the young stallion are: Nao Victoria, a sister of Gr.1 winner Albigna who will give birth next year at the Haras du Thenney, Fangs for the Haras de la Perelle, along with Marmelet and Kiss Love, sisters respectively of two and three black-type performers.

Retired to stud as the best miler by champion stallion Zarak, Metropolitan demonstrated great class during his racing career. Unbeaten as a juvenile, winner of the Gr.1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains, excellent third in the Gr.1 St James’s Palace Stakes and second in the Gr.1 Prix Jacques le Marois, he also boasts a handsome physique which has attracted strong support from breeders. Among those to place their confidence in him are:  Haras Voltaire, John Corbani, Ecurie des Charmes, Haras du Mont dit Mont, La Motteraye, LNJ Foxwoods, Stuart McPhee, Mount Coote Stud, Skymarc Farm, the Dubois family, Haras des Sablonnets…
Following his syndication and thanks to the quality of French and international breeders who support him for this first season, Metropolitan benefits from a prestigious book of mares. 50% of the mares are winners and of these, over a third were successful at two years old, 6 won at Stakes level and 13 are Stakes-placed.

This first book counts 60 sisters of 113 black-type performers, including 16 Gr.1 horses, featuring among others, sisters of Txope, Bucanero Fuerte and Wooded, Broome, Diego Velazquez, Golden Valentine, Thewayyouare and Peeping Fawn as well as Dreamtheimpossible, 3rd in the Gr.1 Meon Valley Stud Fillies’ Mile at Ascot.
Finally, a quarter of his mares have already produced Stakes individuals. Among these are the dams of Tiger Tanaka, Duke of Hazzard, Shakti, while others have given birth to Alistair, Ashiana, Ashrun, Black Princess, Hopeful, Straight …

The Haras d’Etreham’s new recruit is making a very auspicious start.
