Connections of Metropolitan support their new stallion
The best miler of his generation, and the first Classic winner by Zarak to retire to stud, Metropolitan will benefit from solid support from the Haras d’Etreham and their associates.
The connections of the young sire were very active during recent breeding stock sales, both in Europe and in the USA, in order to boost the first book of mares destined for the 2024 Poule d’Essai winner, and to enhance their respective broodmare bands.
Ten young mares have been acquired, including several black-type performers such as Turn Cartwheels, a winner at two years old and winner of the Listed Prix la Sorellina, and Lady Mia, second in the Gr.3 Prix Miesque and from the illustrious family of Alpine Rose.
Two mares recruited at Tattersalls will meet Metropolitan and these include Cougar Annie who is none other than a sister of 2024 triple Group scorer Economics, whose successes include the defeat of August Rodin in the Gr.1 Irish Champion Stakes.

Connections of the stallion were also active at Goffs, purchasing Schooner Ridge. A sister to two black-type performers including Gr.2 Duchess of Cambridge Stakes victrix Persian Dreamer, she hails from a cross of Siyouni with a Galileo dam. This year, her yearling half-brother raised a bid of 300,000€ during the Goffs Orby Book 1 Sale.
Two daughters of Lope de Vega have recently joined Metropolitan’s book of mares, after going under the hammer at Arqana. These are Embrace, a juvenile winner from the family of 2019 American Champion Filly, the Haras d’Etreham-bred Uni, and Shy Hi Bye, a full sister of Gr.2 Prix du Muguet winner and multiple Group-placed for André Fabre, Duhail.
Nicolas de Chambure declared, “In a competitive and selective market, it is essential to support one's stallions and Metropolitan will benefit from strong backing from his connections. A number of shares have been sold to some of the leading breeders in France and abroad. They have reserved a quality broodmare band for him and we are delighted with the welcome he has received since the announcement of his arrival at stud and following visits.
We warmly invite breeders to come and see him at stud in order to finalise their crosses.
